Beth Moore is just one more symptom of the dysfunction of the SBC. I grieve over what the denomination that once was my home has become in its effort to purify itself from anything that upsets its hierarchy. The SBC will go on, but it loses a bit of its vitality every time one of these divisions comes to pass.

Like many other organizations, the SBC has had its obituary written many times. I doubt the departure of Beth Moore will be more than a passing speed bump. I don't believe there is any one person who is so important or powerful that they can be the end of the SBC. If it didn't happen after Patterson it won't happen after Beth Moore.

It won't be the end of the SBC because people have been recognizing since the Takeover that the SBC only values women leaders if they stay in their place. It took Moore a long time to catch up with what a lot of us knew 30 years ago. Maybe now she can preach without pretending she isn't preaching to keep the men happy.
