Fifty years ago, my high school was integrated. It was a tough few days of court fights in my home community, but most of the students managed to survive. Thinking back on that occasion today, it has been an opportunity to reflect on the journey on which we Americans have come. Today, many of my coworkers are African-Americans, and my workplace would be far poorer without them. It's hard to believe it has been fifty years since the first 8 black students came to Galax High School in Galax, VA.
